- Impedance Testing: Tympanometry & Acoustic Reflex testing are important in measuring middle ear function. It can diagnose several problems such as fluid in the middle ear, negative middle ear pressure, eustachian tube dysfunction, disruption of the middle ear bones, and perforation of the eardrum.
- Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation:
- Adults: Hearing is measured by determining the softest sound a person can hear by using a range of low to high frequencies. The audiologist will then determine your ability to both hear and understand conversations by measuring the softest sound that your ear can detect and how clearly you comprehend spoken words.
- Pediatric: A variety of methods can be used to establish the hearing status of newborns, infants, and children of all ages. Testing may include Otoacoustic Emissions Testing, Play Audiometry, Visual Reinforcement Audiometry, or Pure Tone Air and Bone Audiometry.
- Otoacoustic Emissions: This test uses a probe placed in the ear canal to measure the function of the outer hair cells in the cochlea by measuring nearly inaudible sounds created by your inner ear in response to external noises. If these sounds are not produced, it can be a sign that you have hearing loss.
- Tinnitus Evaluation and Treatment: Tinnitus is perceived differently by each person; therefore, the tinnitus is measured by determining the specific loudness, pitch, and minimum masking levels that they experience for each ear.
- Hearing Aid Consultations: Hearing Loss is unique for everyone. During a consultation, patients are thoroughly counseled on their hearing loss and the best options to maximize communication ability, background noise reduction, and tinnitus relief.
- Custom Earmolds: Personal, custom ear plugs can be made for a variety of situations such as hunting, sleeping, swimming, musicians, and engine noise reduction. We can also make custom hearing aid earmolds for increased comfort and ease of hearing aid insertion.
